Das monumentale Bauwerk, angelegt im spätbarocken Stil der 18. Jahrhunderts, verbindet nicht nur die Alt- und Neustadt von Nancy, einer Flussstadt im Nordosten Frankreichs, sondern beherbergt auch, versteckt hinter einer gewaltigen Eingangstür und einem langgezogenen dunklen Flur, einen kleinen begrünten Innenhof, der Zugang zu einem liebevoll restaurierten Apartment gewährt. Fernab vom regen Treiben auf den Plätzen Stanislas, de la Carrière und d’Alliance laden hier nostalgische Bodenfließen, freigelegte Holzbalken, reduziert geweißte Wände, farbenfrohe Möbel, warme Lichtquellen und buntes Porzellangeschirr zum Sitzen auf der großzügig gestalteten Fensterbank zu einer Tasse Kaffee und einem Croissant mit Erdbeermarmelade ein.

The monumental construction, created in the late baroque style of the 18th century, not only connects the historical and modern centres of Nancy, a riverside city in northern France. Concealed behind a mighty door and a lengthy dark corridor, it also houses a small, green inner courtyard, which in turn grants access to a lovingly restored apartment. Here, far from the lively hustle and bustle on the Places Stanislas, de la Carrière and d’Alliance, nostalgic floor tiles, exposed wooden beams, reduced whitewashed walls, brightly coloured furniture, warm lighting and colourful porcelain dishes invite you to sit on the generous windowsill to drink a cup of coffee and eat a croissant with strawberry jam.
